As a future physical and health educator I will be responsible for educating the lives of many students and I will be able to make a positive impact in shaping our future generation. I will aim to include the three competencies of physical and health education while embracing other teaching opportunities that this profession will provide for me.

As a physical and health educator I am not solely teaching my student movement forms, motor skills and the sport itself; I am teaching much more. I am preparing my students for life outside of the gymnasium. My students will learn core values in the gymnasium that are important in every aspect of life. They will develop communication skills, leadership skills, management skills, and organizational skills. They will learn cooperation, fair play, and sportsmanship. I will provide a nurturing environment that will be inclusive for all of my students regardless of their ability, sex, gender, social class, and so forth. This inclusive environment will provide my students with an opportunity to become more confident allowing for an increase in self-esteem and self-efficacy. My students will be respected and treated fairly and no student will be judged or be made to feel ashamed of who they are.

What I like best about the first two competencies (to perform movement skills in the different physical activity settings and to interact with others in different physical activity settings) is that they both stress "in different physical activity settings".  I believe it is my job as a physical educator to provide a variety of learning experiences in which my students can acquire a range of knowledge, skills and values. A student should not miss out on different learning experiences due to an inadequate or indolent teacher. To the best of my ability I will provide a wealth of opportunity to my students so that they can develop to their potential. I will deliver a wide range of content. The third competency, to adopt a healthy and active lifestyle, may be easy for a physical educator to cat aside but to me it is without doubt the most important competency. I need to make sure that I am directly impacting the lifestyle choices of students by having them create healthy habits by not only being an educator but a role model. My goal is for my students to become healthy individuals for the rest of their lives. In order to do so I need to create an inclusive environment as I stated before. My classes will motivate and influence students to remain active outside of the gymnasium. By creating a nurturing and positive environment I will be in a better position to gear my students to be healthy individuals for life.

It is my responsibility to keep myself up to date with the current issues and innovations that surround physical and health education. I will keep learning so that I can educate my students to the best of my ability. I will increase the potential for student motivation and I will know how to best contribute to the personal growth of each child. I want to be a contributing factor in the personal growth of my students. My gymnasium will be a place where all students will be welcomed and most importantly, where all students will have fun.
